Privacy Policy

Pollytic publishes election polls, polling averages and election information. You can read everything on the site without an account. This policy explains what data is collected when you use it and why.

What we collect

• Opinion poll votes. When you vote on an opinion poll we store your answer with a random identifier kept in a cookie (pw_voter, valid for two years) so you can vote only once and see the results afterwards. To limit repeated voting we also store a one-way, salted hash of your IP address — never the address itself. Votes are shown only as totals.
• Visit statistics. We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views. It uses no cookies and does not identify or track individual visitors across sites.
• Server logs. Our hosting provider (Vercel) keeps short-lived technical logs, such as the requested page and time, to run and secure the service.
• Staff accounts. Editors who sign in to manage content have an account with an email address. Readers never need one.

Advertising

Pollytic is funded by advertising served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to show ads, limit how often you see them, measure their performance and, where you have agreed, show ads based on your interests and your visits to this and other websites.

• Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are asked for consent through Google’s consent message before any personalised advertising. You can change your choice at any time using the privacy settings link shown by that message.
• You can turn off personalised ads from Google at adssettings.google.com, and from many other providers at aboutads.info.
• How Google uses data from sites that use its services is explained at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Why we use this data

Vote data and the IP hash are used only to run opinion polls fairly (our legitimate interest). Visit statistics help us improve the site. Advertising cookies are used on the basis of your consent where the law requires it. We do not sell personal data.

Your rights

You can ask to access or delete data linked to you, or object to its use. Because we do not know who you are, the vote cookie is the only link: deleting your browser’s cookies for this site removes it. You may also complain to your data protection authority.

Children

Pollytic is not directed at children under 16 and does not knowingly collect their data.
